Italian and Mediterranean Studies Course

The Italian and Mediterranean Studies Course is devoted to study of the Mediterranean World from its rich civilization generated by continuous cultural exchange between various ethnic groups in ancient times, to the forefront of contemporary Italian culture that still evokes a unique appeal within the European Union. Students learn about the region from various perspectives such as its history, literature, thought and art, with a focus on its interconnectedness and diversity at the same time.

Greco-Roman culture and Italian culture as its heir are considered the repository and epitome of classical humanist cultivation. One great advantage of this Course then, that sets it apart from others, is that it studies European culture at its abundant source. Acquiring proficiency in languages such as Italian, Latin and Greek, students may choose to immerse themselves in the world of the literary classics, work on internationally acclaimed contemporary Italian design, music or art, or explore the historic relationship between the Mediterranean and Islamic worlds. Our teaching staff stands ready to support you in making learning an enjoyable experience.
