1 April 2020 to 31 March 2023

Renewal of Contract

Your employment agreement may be renewed one time. In the event of renewal, the term of employment will be extended until 31 March 2025.

Renewal of your employment agreement will be determined by the following factors: All relevant factors, such as budget status, progress of the work assigned to you, the amount of the work at the end of the term, your performance, and work record, and/or your medical conditions.

Work Responsibilities

The successful applicant will engage in the research related to the ERATO project "Evolving Symbiosis" (Research Director: Takema Fukatsu). The Wakamoto Group will implement ex-vivo analyses of symbiotic bacteria using microfluidic platforms. We welcome the researchers who have the research experiences and expertise in either of (ideally, multiple of) the fields such as microbiology, bacteriology, single-cell analysis, microfluidics, and molecular biology. We also seek applicants who wish to learn new areas beyond their backgrounds.

Working hours

Discretionary work system for professional work applies and working hours will be deemed as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day.

Days Off

Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, and the year-end and New Year holidays (December 29 to January 3)

Leave

Annual Paid Leave, Special Leave, etc.

Salary and Allowances

Annual Salary System applies and monthly paid salary will be around JPY 300,000 to JPY 450,000 including performance / achievement allowance. (The salary will be decided taking your qualifications, capacity, experience etc. into account.
Commuting Allowance (basically up to JPY 55,000)

Insurance

You will be automatically enrolled in the insurance from the Mutual Aid Association of MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and Employment Insurance.

13.

Required Qualifications

1) Applicants must have a completed PhD or equivalent degree (graduate students who are expected to complete a PhD degree before the employment start date are eligible to apply.)

2) Applicants must have research experiences and expertise in either of the research areas described in "7. Contents of Work Duties."

3) Applicants must be capable of conducting the research independently and working cooperatively with the collaborators within the scope of the project.

4) Good communication skills in oral and written English are essential.
