News from PEAK/GPEAK Section

Year 1 March 7, 2024

(Mar 25 to Apr 2) Application: Exemption from Credit Limit for PEAK students

To PEAK first year students who matriculated in 2023:

In the Junior Division of College of Arts and Sciences, in order for students to undertake a sufficient number of hours of home study for each of the registered courses, the maximum number of credits that students may register per semester is set to 30 credits each in 1A semester, 1S semester or 2A semester.

As described in PEAK Academic Handbook 2023, if a student fulfills both of the following requirements in his/her first A Semester after matriculation (except for readmission), the student may be exceptionally permitted to register for more courses than allowable under the Credit Limit from the following S Semester.

  1. The student must have obtained at least 25 credits for the Junior Division courses.
  2. Except for courses evaluated on a pass/fail basis, 90% or more of the student's obtained credits must have been evaluated as "A" and "A+".

If a student fulfills the aforementioned requirements and wishes to register for more courses than allowable under the Credit Limit in 1S semester and 2A semester, the student should fill out and submit the prescribed application form to the PEAK/GPEAK Section within the designated period from Monday, March 25 to Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

To apply for Exemption from Credit Limit, the request form is downloadable from here.

Regarding the approval or disapproval for the exemption, we will send an e-mail notification to the students anytime after the application is closed and before course registration starts in the S semester(S1/S2 Term).
