【Important Notes】Regarding Enrollment in Autumn Semester 2025 Courses (Online/In-Person)
To All Students of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
Please note that the following points regarding enrollment in courses for the 2025 Academic Year A Semester.
I. Introduction:
・For the 2025 academic year, classes will primarily be held in person, with some online instruction continuing.
・Please refer to the "Class Format" section at the bottom of each course syllabus for the specific format of each subject.
・For the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, even for in-person classes, to avoid classroom crowding at the start of the semester, classes will be held online as a general rule during the first week of Semester A and Term A1 (October 2-8). However, some classes may be held in person from the very first session. Please carefully check the syllabus or UTOL notifications before classes begin to ensure correct participation.
※Please note that Monday, October 13 is a holiday class day.
・Classroom information is generally assigned even for online classes. If you have in-person classes before or after and need to attend an online class on the Komaba Campus, you may use the assigned classroom.
・Classes are generally 90 minutes long, but some may be 105 minutes. This is clearly stated in the UTAS syllabus, so be sure to check.
II. Regarding Participation in Online Classes

・If you encounter any issues, difficulties, or concerns regarding online classes, please contact the support desk.

・If you experience problems accessing a class, please contact your supervisor or use the support desk's email form.

・Recording online lectures, providing screen captures or downloaded materials to third parties, uploading them in a form accessible to third parties, or providing lecture links to third parties is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply may be considered academic misconduct. If deemed academic misconduct, all grades earned in all courses (including term courses) taken during the semester in which the subject is offered will be invalidated. Furthermore, legal action may be taken if copyright laws are violated. Students are also prohibited from recording lectures for their own personal study.
(However, sending links to students enrolled in a specific course who cannot access the lecture URL due to server downtime or similar reasons is not prohibited.)
・Leaking online lecture URLs to individuals outside the university is also prohibited.

・If you encounter unavoidable circumstances preventing you from attending an online class, please request a recording from the supervisor.
・As a general rule, please use your real name (as listed on your student ID) when participating in online classes and for your account name. If you wish to use a nickname, for classes with 50 or fewer students, please notify your supervisor in advance via email, etc., providing both your real name and nickname. For classes with more than 50 students, this is not necessary unless instructed by your instructor. For exams, reports, and other assignments, please use your real name.

III. Regarding Online Coursework on Campus
・Classroom information is generally assigned for online classes as well. If you have in-person classes before or after and need to attend an online class on the Komaba Campus, you may use the assigned classroom.
・Please check the list of classrooms available for online classes below.

・Please bring your own device for online classes on campus, fully charged, along with its power cord and headset (or earphones with a microphone). If available, bring spare batteries or a power bank if you have them.
・Only use available outlets in the classroom. Outlets with caps inserted are off-limits.
・Bringing your own power strips to further split power sources is strictly prohibited. Doing so may trip circuit breakers across multiple classrooms, cause power outages
In the worst case, this could trip circuit breakers across multiple classrooms, causing power outages, or even cause outlets to catch fire and start a blaze.
・PC charging lockers are available in Buildings 1, 7, and 11.
As quantities are limited, please share and use them considerately.

・When attending online classes in the classroom, please ensure you use UTokyo WiFi. Do not use personal mobile WiFi routers or smartphone tethering, as these interfere with UTokyo WiFi and may cause connection issues.
IV. Others
・If you contract an infectious disease, it is recommended that you refrain from attending the university and recuperate at home or elsewhere as appropriate. Should you need to miss classes, please contact the relevant lecturer as necessary and follow their instructions. Arrangements for missed classes are at the discretion of the lecturer; some classes may not accommodate absences.

・Regarding consecutive time-limited online classes held at Hongo and Komaba campuses, enrollment will not be hindered if the graduate school or faculty offering the Hongo course permits it. However, please note that if either class switches to in-person instruction or if only the exam is held in a classroom, no special accommodations will be provided. Consequently, you will be unable to attend one of the classes.
・Even if the course format is on-demand, you cannot register for two or more courses within the same time slot.
