本学が加盟する大学連合「Global Alliance of Universities on Climate: GAUC」がハッカソンを開催します。

１．GAUCとは
GAUCは気候変動問題に取り組む国際大学連合です。2021年8月現在東京大学を含む世界の15大学により構成されており、研究、教育、広報活動を通じて気候変動問題に関する取組を進展させ、その取組を産業界、NPO、政府等との連携を通じてローカルからグローバルなレベルまで幅広く実施することをミッションとしています。東京大学は2019年の設立時からメンバーとして参加しており、2021年3月には東京大学主催で脱炭素化のワークショップを開催しています。

このハッカソンは、例年GAUCが開催している学生向けのイベントの一環として実施されます。

２．テーマ
現時点では未定ですが、気候と他のSDGsとの相乗効果について、特に「自然/生物多様性（Nature/ Biodiversity）」、「食と健康（Food& Health）」、「エネルギー（Energy）」、「輸送（Transportation）」、「公共政策（Public Policy）」への影響や変革力などに関わるものになる見込みです。
３．目的
異なる複数のGAUC加盟校所属の学生によるチームを結成し、気候変動に対処するプロダクトや解決策のための革新的なアイデアを生み出すための力を与え、刺激し、スキルを向上させる1週間のバーチャルハッカソンを行います。
４．開催期間
2021年10月25日（月）～29日（金）いずれも11.00-13.00 (UTC)の時間帯に実施
開催期間中はワークショップ（Zoom、セッション終了後にオンデマンドで視聴可能）の受講の他、主にSlackでチームメンバーとコミュニケーションを取ります。
５．応募対象者
東京大学に所属する学部生・大学院生
６．定員
各校5名
※5名以上の応募があった場合は、簡単な志望理由をもとに選考を行います。
７．応募期限
2021年10月7日（木）

The Global Alliance of Universities on Climate (GAUC) is calling for participants to GAUC Climate Innovation Hackathon 2021
1. About GAUC
In response to the urgent challenges presented by global climate change, the world's leading universities are called on to play a critical role. The mission of the Global Alliance of Universities on Climate is to advance climate change solutions through research, education, and public outreach, and to partner with industry, non-profit and government organizations to promote rapid implementation from local to global scales. GAUC will pursue this mission by promoting exchange and cooperation among member universities and providing leadership of global higher education efforts addressing climate change.
Currently, 15 Universities form GAUC. The University of Tokyo is participating the alliance from its establishment in 2019, and held the Campus Decarbonization Workshop in March 2021.

This hackathon will be held as part of GAUC's annual event for students.

2.Theme
TBC
It is expected to be theme regarding synergy between climate and other SDGs, and the climate's impacts on and transforming power for other areas, especially on Nature/Biodiversity, Food& Health, Energy, Transportation and Public Policy.
3. Object
A 1-week virtual hackathon as part of the Global Youth Summit to empower, inspire and develop the skills of students from across the GAUC partner universities to form multi-institutional teams to create innovative ideas for products and solutions that address climate change.
4. Dates
The hackathon will be held 25-29 October.
All central events will be held 11.00-13.00 (UTC)
During the Hackathon, participants will take the workshop via Zoom (all sessions would be available 'on demand' as a recording after the session has finished), and will communicate with team members mainly via Slack.
5. Eligible Applicants
Undergraduate Students, Graduate Students of the University of Tokyo
6. Capacity
5 students from each GAUC member institution
If there are more than 5 applicants, there will selection based on the brief reason for applying.
7. Application Deadline
Thursday, 7th Oct, 2021
We will contact you by 12th Oct regarding the selection of participants.
